MRC is located at the heart of the Columbia Wetlands. Residents in this region support the conservation effort and there are many opportunities to observe wildlife in the wetlands while enjoying the natural beauty of the Valley.

  • Canoe or kayak in the Columbia Wetlands.
  • Explore the Golden section of the Columbia river just north of Parson. Canoes and kayaks could be rented.
  • The Columbia Wetlands Stewardship Partners provides a river map for explorers who wish to travel through the wetlands using a watercraft. Here is the river guide.

  • For seeing, photographing and learning about wolves and their role in the environment, visit the Northern Lights Wolf Centre.
  • Burgess Shale in Yoho National Park near Field. The fossils excellently preserved by nature, are over five hundred million years old. Older than dinosaurs! Visit their website here.
